Background History

WEAYMOUTH & ASSOCIATES, INC., formed in 1986, has provided Security Design/Engineering and Operational/Management Services for some of the largest and most prestigious development projects in Canada, the United States Great Britain and the Far East. These include Corporate Headquarters, large Multi-use Complexes, Hotel Complexes and various Governmental and Municipal Headquarters.

Prior to forming the firm, Barry R. Weaymouth was a Regional Security Officer with Canada's Department of External Affairs. As the Senior Regional Security Officer, Mr. Weaymouth was responsible for all Security/Operations and Personal Safety at Canadian Embassies, Missions, Consulates and Official Residences, including both new construction and retrofit, throughout Western Europe (1981-1984) and the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Anglophone African Countries (1984-1987).

Upon leaving the Canadian Government, Mr. Weaymouth held a Top Secret, Category III, Special NATO Security Clearance and had received the Canadian Decoration for Distinguished Service. Mr. Weaymouth's International Security expertise was recognized by the American Government as he was issued an H-1 Specialist Visa, to allow him to work freely within the United States. An H-1 Specialist Visa is issued to experts or individuals that are judged to be pre-eminent in their field thus allowing them to enter and work freely within the United States.

In mid 1990, after providing International Consulting expertise for three years to a major American Security Consulting/Engineering Group in Texas, Mr. Weaymouth moved his firm to Toronto. After seven (7) very busy/successful years in Toronto,Weaymouth & Associates Inc. relocated to the Ottawa region to take up a long term consulting assignment with the retrofit of the Canadian Parliament Buildings. This conservation upgrading of Canada's foremost heritage site is touching on all facets of Architecture, Engineering, Security, Communications and Personal Safety Applications one could imagine.
